Active Antenna Systems are now accepted as the future format of radio access networks. In the coming couple of years we will see a number of companies bring commercial product to market and focus is moving toward performance verification. Because of the multi-transmitter architecture of these solutions, new methods of conformance need to be established.

-- What are the main test & measurement challenges?

-- Are existing solutions or are new ones to be developed?

-- Does it have an impact on the devices and system architecture?

Guest Speakers

Conor O'Keeffe, CTO Socowave

A look at the challenges associated with qualifying Active Antenna Systems to meet wireless interface standards taking into account the narrow perspective of existing standards. Active Antenna Systems forces a move from a well defined single test point conformance to a multi-test point system to demonstrate conformance. What does this specification and test regime involve?

Ken Collins, Rhode & Schwarz

Outline current best practice test methodologies, solutions and projections on how existing approaches could be extended to cope with the complexities of Active Antenna systems. Evolution or Revolution?

John Dooley, PhD Researcher, NUIM

Trade-offs between different signal conditioning approaches to delivering Power Amplifier efficiencies. Outlining algorithmic options for different multi-transmitter system solutions and mapping out some benefits of each approach. Digital or Analog?
