Board Members

WirelessLAB is a membership based organisation with a Board of Directors overseeing its activities.

The inaugural Board comprises; 

Joe Moore, Socowave (Chairman)

Joe Moore, Socowave (Chairman)

Joe has extensive senior management experience in the mobile telecoms arena, holding senior positions with technology companies such as Motorola and Sigma Wireless. Joe has a proven track record of successfully pioneering growth technology businesses over the past 30 years. His experience ranges from company start-up, transformation and internationalisation. He holds an MBA from University College Dublin.

 
Prof Tony Fagan, UCD (Director)

Prof Tony Fagan, UCD (Director)

Tony has 35 years experience in signal processing & communications engineering. He started his professional career at Marconi Research Labs, Essex working on advanced modem design. He then joined UCD, establishing the Communications & Optical Research Centre. Collaboration with industry has been a distinguishing feature of Tony's career. His current research interests incl. ultrawideband ranging/positioning and the use of wireless technology in automotive applications. 

 
Dr. Louis (Sam) Samuel, Bell Labs (Director)

Dr. Louis (Sam) Samuel, Bell Labs (Director)

Sam is Executive Director of Bell Labs Ireland and UK. Bell Labs is the research arm of Alcatel Lucent. Previous roles held include, Regional CTO for Europe and Technical Manager with Bell Labs. Sam became a Bell Labs fellow in 2006 for his work on Flat Cellular Architectures. Sam received an MEng in Communication Engineering in 1995, and a PhD in The Application of Non-linear Dynamics to Teletraffic Modelling in 1999, from Queen Mary and Westfield College, University of London.

 
Dr. Ronan Farrell, NUIM (Director)

Dr. Ronan Farrell, NUIM (Director)

Ronan is Director of the Callan Institute and a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Electronic Engineering at NUI Maynooth. He is also a theme leader in two SFI funded centres: CTVR and the Strategic Cluster for Advanced Geotechnologies (StratAG). His personal research interests include circuit design, radio and wireless technologies and he has published over 60 peer reviewed book chapters, journal and conference publications, and filed a number of patents.

 
Vincent Troy, Analog Devices (Director)

Vincent Troy, Analog Devices (Director)

Vincent is strategic marketing manager for European wireless infrastructure at Analog Devices and has over 15 years experience in the semiconductor industry, including the design of high speed data converters and high speed digital signal processing and holds a number of IC patents. Vincent graduated with a B.E. (elect.) from NUIG in 1996 and with an M.B.A. from U.L. in 2006.
